Prosperity of fools - Bible study Lessons on Prosperity
Can fools prosper?
Yes, fools do prosper and can be rich. But the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. The Bible advises you to be wise and to walk with wise people. You are to have no dealing or association with fools.
What happens to a mad rider of a blind horse? The mad person and the blind horse shall both perish. So also is a fool who prospers. A fool, without God lacks vision and is like a mad rider of a blind horse. Like a rolling stone wherever he hits and stops is alright. So also the prosperity of fools is a form of madness.
Hence, all the labor of a fool only tends to weariness of heart. Without a guide, she has to try so many routes and change so many plans just to find out that she is in no way closer to the goal of reaching out to her destination.
The labor in planning, deciding and pursuing an objective can therefore only lead to weariness in her soul. A fool does not know how to go to the city of true success:
“The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.” ~ Ecclesiastes 10:15
A fool can prosper. He or she may be rich. But that too, is for his or her destruction. Yes, the prosperity of fools leads to a certain destruction.
The example of Nabal
You may study the Bible story of a fool by name Nabal in 1 Samuel 25:2-3.
He was from a very good family. He got married to a very beautiful and intelligent lady. Nabal was a very great man in a worldly sense. He had possessions of Carmel and three thousand sheep. He was blessed with a thousand goats. But despite all that, Nabal died a fool’s death; just as the Bible says the prosperity of a fool shall always destroy him:
“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” ~ Proverbs 1:32
Be warned also, for not only fools get destroyed their companions also:
“But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” ~ Proverbs 13:20
Therefore be wise, put God first in all your plans and don’t associate with fools.
Who is a fool?
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good. ~ Psalm 14:1
A fool is anyone who fails to recognize God. If you know there is a God who is the creator for the heaven and the earth then you will put him in the first place. You will seek God first. This is how to be wise. A wise person knows there is God and willingly surrenders to God’s rule and way. He can therefore receive what only God can give.
God is the source of real wealth
"But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day." ~ Deuteronomy 8:18
God is the source of true wealth. If you want true riches you need to first link up with God and receive His power to get wealth. This is an everlasting wealth which is totally different from the prosperity attainable by fools.
Why Fools Prosper?
Fools prosper because God makes“ His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.” ~ Matthew 5:45
Fools could become rich. Fools can get money and influence and property. Fools can wake up early and work late night to prosper. But a fool’s prosperity is like the wind which never last long.
But a wise person who seeks eternal prosperity would seek God first. The wise thinks of God and in fact seek only God. Why? When he or she finds God she will get all riches.
