Living to Dress and Keep the Garden
Adam and his wife, Eve lived in the Garden of Eden. The Bible tells the story of creation in Genesis 2:4-3:26.
In Genesis 5:2, you learned that God called their name Adam. This implies that Adam may be a very general name like “Man.” It may as well refer to the entire human race.
Adam and Eve were to dress and keep the Garden of Eden in which they live.
They were not spectators or tourist in Eden. They had work to do.
The original translation of the words “to dress and keep it” implies to “participate in the creative process”.
You are on earth – an enclosed Garden of God – to participate in God’s Creative Process. This I will elaborate on later in this section.

Why do you need the knowledge and understanding of what happened in the Garden of Eden?
It is to help you discover your major purpose in life.
It's only when you find your ultimate purpose that you will spend enough time to pursue it. That is how with God’s power you will find it easy to actualize your God given vision.
It will encourage you to direct your energy and youthful zeal to pursue it. And for sure, what you spend your time on, determines the quality of your life.
What is your life Purpose?
God in the cool of the day came to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and instructed them:
“Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
You want to know how this statement would help you ? Yes,
Adam and Eve stands for the first human parents.
They are in a way, the representative of the entire human being.
What God said to them was directed also to every human being.
This is true for all generations of human existence.
Therefore, God directed you to participate in the Creative Process.
Here is how he wants you to participate by dressing and Keeping “the Garden” :
• Be fruitful
• Multiply
• Fill the earth
• Subdue it
• Have dominion over everything.
God spoke those words in the Garden of Eden in the imperative mood.
This makes it a command for you.
Within those words you will find your treasure of life.
You will find your God ordained purpose on earth as you study and meditate on Adam and Eve and their condition in the Garden of Eden.
Use Genesis 1:28 as your central verse for this.
Then try to answer the following questions:
• Why are you born?
• What ultimate purpose are you to pursue?
• How can you discover your life’s major goal?
