Who is - Biblical Ruth?

Ruth was a young lady from Moab (Ruth 1:4). She married a Hebrew named Mahlon (Ruth 4:10). She would know both joy and pain. Out of the experiences of her life she would mold a character that is exemplary for anyone to follow. God is able to change us into faithful servants through His unfailing care.

She started life with many disadvantages as a young widow who followed her mother-in-law to a strange land. Biblical Ruth started small in life. But she never allowed her past limitation to hinder her from a position of honor. She never allowed her shame to stop her from a glorious end.

She persisted until she became a woman of constancy, piety, industry and spotless obedience. Ruth 1:16; Ruth 2:6-7, Ruth 2:23; Ruth 3:5, Ruth 3:11.

Biblical Ruth never gives up. She rather with Naomi used for their personal benefits all that was available in their struggle to survive. Their plan worked.

Are you young or considering who to befriend, date or marry? Meditate on the words of Ruth to Naomi:

“But Ruth replied Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.” Ruth 1:16-17 (NIV)

You must be able to accept your friend totally. Friends are contacted at three levels. Before you get committed make sure you accept your friend on these three levels. Don’t imagine she or he would change when you become friends.

Three Levels of Friendship:

  • No. If you could not accept her or him now, tomorrow will be too late.
  • The second level is to accept her or his people as yours. Is that more difficult?
  • Then the third level, you must accept to serve her or his God.

If you could not whole heartedly accept the three conditions, then don’t go into the relationship. Here is what the Bible teaches:

The companion of a foorl:

Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall be destroyed. ~ Proverbs 13 :20

Friendship with the world:

Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God .~ James 4:4

Why was Biblical Ruth Successful?

Here are some of the reasons why Biblical Ruth became a great success:

• She was a woman of piety, love, and constancy - Ruth 1:16
• She was notable for hard work - Ruth 2:6-7, Ruth 2:23
• She obeyed Naomi totally - Ruth 3:5
• She left idolatry and join the people of Jehovah.
• She became to townsmen a woman of noble and spotless character. Ruth 3:11
• She became known for her noble character.

“I will do whatever you say Ruth answered. So she went down to the threshing-floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do." ~ Ruth 3:5-6

Action Point:

  • Decide right now to make Ruth or Boaz your model.
  • Decide to follow God and His people at all time.

God bless you as you decide for Him in Jesus name.
